The 5 best new breweries in Canada - and we're one of them!

Humbling to say the least. It came as a bit of a shock to us finding out Sharp Magazine had put us in some incredibly awesome company. Completely unsolicited, this article reaffirms that we are at least doing something right, and that people love us for who we are and what Stray Dog Brewing means to them. Stray Dog Brewing Company, recently named one of Canada's Top 5 new breweries by Sharp Magazine, is looking for a part time cellerperson/delivery driver. Does this sound like you?You love craft beer. We don't pay to play.

A recent conversation with some other local craft brewery owners, and another with a local bar manager, is the inspiration for this post. We at SDBC believe that if you play by the rules, treat people with respect, make good beer, and support your community, it's good for all. When you bend or break the rules, treat others unfairly, then what does that say about your business? Some brief context. Pay to play or pay for play has been a common, albeit illegal practice in many businesses, including the beer industry. Just Google Pay to Play and beer, and you'll see many examples come up. And....we're open!

Well folks, it's been a long journey but we finally made it to doors being open and beer being sold! Last weekend was our official opening (though not a 'grand' opening as of yet. That date is coming soon). So far, tremendous support from the community, positive reviews, and overall just a fantastic vibe in the tap room. We've had friends and family come by to clean, can, and serve. For that, we can't thank them enough. As for the local craft beer community? You gals and guys have been a tremendous fountain of knowledge and help. What other industry loans the use of ingredients or equipment when you're in a pinch? It really takes a community to build one. Promise...
